  • More than 25% of extinguishers inspected annually are not fully charged, therefore inoperable
  • Almost 25% of fire extinguishers inspected annually are found to be in the wrong location, as specified in NFPA 10
  • The National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) and the International Code Council (ICC) have adopted fire extinguisher monitoring as a means of inspection
  • The National Association of State Fire Marshals (NASFM) has endorsed fire extinguisher monitoring.
  • National, state and local fire codes require fire extinguishers in commercial structures
  • OSHA regulations require that portable fire extinguishers be provided for employee use

  • Extinguished in Ford City!  Sounds like a 1950's western,  but the hero in this case was the school maintanance workers.  They got the fire out before it could spread;  the fire started in the shop from a petro-chemical spray,  it could have been much worse if the fire extinguisher was not ready and charged. Monitoring fire extinguishers is a good idea for schools.
